The Appeal

In 1975 Jaguar stopped making one of its staple products - open-top GT cars. The gap that created was the inspiration for Anthony Stevens, an automotive designer. He conceived this car, the carefully executed convertible conversion of Jaguar’s svelte XJC coupe.
Just 12 were factory built by coachbuilder Ladbrook Avons at the firm’s Warwick base. Thanks to high quality engineering and a well-resolved roof arrangement, these are popular with enthusiasts and sought-after by collectors. That is, if you can find one.
These cars rarely come to market so we are very pleased to offer this example. Prior to conversion, it was already a very rare and desirable car - just 372 RHD V12-powered Daimler coupes left the works and this is car number 263.
It looks resplendent in black with matching interior and roof. The condition can be attributed in large part to an £18,000 restoration in 2021. The sparing use by its handful of keepers has also contributed.
The car has been part of a collection in recent years so little used. This car has been little used as part of a small collection. The car has been the recipient of nearly £5000 of recent service and paint detailing prior to sale by Jaguar specialists.
