1979 BMW 633 CSi Auto

Highlights

  • Fantastic condition throughout
  • Mechanically very good and ready to drive
  • Highly original with only the stereo having been changed

The Appeal

The 633CSi is part of the E24 family which was in production between 1976-1989, however the E24 underwent a significant change in 1982 switching from the E12 5 series platform it was initially based on to the newly introduced E28 5 series platform.

A classic BMW design, the big 633CSi was available exclusively as a two door coupe and the earlier version based on the E12 platform is becoming increasingly sought after.

The History

The current owner purchased the car in March 2022 from a Gentleman in Devon. The current owner described the previous one as “fastidious” in his maintenance of the car.

This attention to detail is highlighted perfectly in the restoration of the original toolkit, which has been completed down to the finest detail, even including the genuine BMW cloth! Whilst we don’t have much of the interim history before this we do know the car had interesting origins.

The car was imported directly from the factory in Munich by a Mr. Ataie who was working in the Iranian embassy. The car may well have been present during the infamous events of the 1980 embassy siege.

The Paperwork

The car comes with extensive paperwork including previous MOTs detailing the mileage, servicing history and invoices for any repairs carried out.

The fantastic condition of the car is reflected in the paperwork, this is a car that has wanted for nothing. It has a current MOT with no advisories.

The Interior

The interior is in excellent condition throughout. There is little sign of wear or ageing and the upholstery, headlining, door cards, carpets and dash all present very well with no visible damage.

The interior provides the level of luxury and comfort one would expect from a 6 series of this vintage and coupled with the high-wall tires the ride provided by this gorgeous car is hard to beat. Everything inside works exactly as it should and the car provides the same motoring experience as it did when it was new.

The only potential point with room for improvement is some slight discolouration visible on the seat pads when the front seats are in the folded forward position, however given the low visibility of this and the exceptional quality of the interior otherwise; we feel that this really does not detract from the overall experience of the car.

The Exterior

As with the interior the exterior is in fantastic condition. Given the excellent condition of the exterior and combined with the optional extra wheels this 633CSi makes quite the impression and for all the right reasons.

The paintwork, brightwork and trim are all in excellent condition with no visible issues that we could see.

The Mechanics

The car is in very good condition for its age and mileage with no known faults or issues. As can be seen in the images, the engine bay and underside is cleaner than most cars made within the last couple of years and having covered one tenth of the miles that this car has.

The car that has been taken with this car shows through in every single detail and as to be expected it starts perfectly, runs smoothly and drives fantastically.
