Highlights
- Complete restoration in the early 2000’s
- Stripped out interior resulting in a 860kg kerb weight
- Mechanically perfect, with resounding performance
The Appeal
A true driver's car. As the saying goes, you aren’t a true petrol head until you’ve owned an Alfa Romeo, so why not make it a really, really good one?
The Alfetta GTV is a car which has long been praised for its driving attributes, so what better car to turn into a Group B competition car? Well balanced, extremely accurate steering, and the devastating howl of a V6 engine - truly a car not to be messed with, especially in the bends.
This particular example has undergone a full restoration in the early 2000’s and completely converted for racing, including a stripped out interior and cage, lightweight alloys, plexiglass windows, and further hefty upgrades throughout which are not for the faint of heart.

Serious business. There are no creature comforts here - this is as driver focused as you can get! Fully stripped out and caged interior, this Alfa is ripe and ready to be chucked straight back into competition racing with you behind the wheel.
Fitted up front is a Sparco bucket seat, outfitted with a 5-point racing harness to keep you strapped in and supported through any turns and bumps you may encounter.
Directly in front of you sits a detachable steering wheel for ease of access, as we all know too well how difficult it is to get into a caged car without taking the wheel off.

Directly behind the wheel we see the small gauge cluster comprising a speedometer, an oil pressure gauge and a water temperature - truly stripped back to the bare essentials here to ensure no distractions are caused for any pilot of this absolute flying machine. A cut off switch is fitted just adjacent to the steering column as per racing guidelines.
In the rear, well… There isn’t a whole lot to chat about. Mounting points for the roll cage are all welded in place and harness points are secured with traditional eye bolts, as well as some plexiglass windows fitted in place of the side windows. Aside from that, it’s all business!
The Exterior
- Original red colour with a white stripe
- Arch flares painted in white
- Competition sponsorship decals still in place
- OZ Racing Rally wheels in fantastic nick
- Toyo Proxes all round
- Plexiglass side windows
- Headlights replaced with grills
- Aggressive front spoiler
- Bonnet pins
- Single wiper conversion
- Side exit exhaust in front of driver side rear wheel
Born and bred racing aesthetics, outfitted with sponsorship decals throughout and wearing a rather fitting white stripe up the centre of the vehicle - matching up with the white arches and some of the F.A. Racing decals dotted throughout the car.
There’s something about a race car with battle scars that we find unmistakably cool, akin to the patina we see on original classic cars. It adds a plethora of character and it’s something we love to see!

At the front of the car, the Alfa still wears its original Alfa Romeo grill and badge, and the four headlamps have been removed and replaced with grills - one of which has been cut out to make room for intake ducting to that screaming V6 power plant.
Bonnet pins have been added to improve the safety of the bonnet itself, this prevents any high speed failures of the bonnet latch mechanism, this bonnet is also fully detachable from the pins which allows for much more room to move when tinkering around in the engine bay.
The front bumper does show some battle scars, chips, scratches, scuffs - but that’s all in the beauty of a competition car.

Moving around to the side of this charming racer, we’re greeted with OZ Racing Rally wheels which are shod in sticky Toyo Proxes, all wheels appear to be in fantastic shape with no signs of any rock chips or kerb marks.
All body panels here appear to be in good shape with just the expected scratches and scrapes which all competition vehicles wear, and the panel gaps are surprisingly good too.
We also get a glimpse on the driver side of the side-exit exhaust peeking out just in front of the rear wheel, with some heat shielding just above on the bottom portion of the sill.

The rear of the car is much the same - scratches and scuffs that are characteristic of any competition car. Latches have been added onto the boot lid to prevent it from springing open during events and the rear light clusters appear to be in good shape!
Up on the roof we get a good view of the large Alfa Romeo crest and more of the sponsorship decals the car has worn throughout its competition career.
This, of course, is no concourse vehicle, but it has been built to serve a purpose and it has proven itself with race wins time and time again.
Regardless of the imperfections, this is an unarguably pretty racer and is sure to continue to keep bringing in trophies under new custodianship.

Not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure.
This is a race car through and through, and one that carries with it a fair number of wins under its belt, which is a testament to how well built it is and how strongly it performs in demanding conditions.

The owner tells us that the 3.0L V6 engine is now pushing a remarkable 250bhp, and once the car only weighs in at a kit-car like 860kg, it makes for an incredible power-to-weight ratio that will shame many things in its path.
The engine response is fantastic and the steering is sharp and precise, as are the brakes!
This car is itching to get back into competition and show what it’s capable of.

Summary
Rare and unarguably pretty.
As stated, there’s something about a racer that wears battle scars that just makes them undeniably cool, it showcases that the car was built and used for a purpose and it has withstood the demanding driver inputs throughout its career.

If you’re in the market for a very well sorted, and extremely capable competition car, you don’t have to look any further than this.
