The Appeal
If you’re a classic 4x4 fan, chances are that you’re either in the Toyota or Land Rover camp. The classic Landie and the FJ40 were two plucky trucks built on over-populated islands on the opposite sides of the world but sharing one goal: to go anywhere.
The Land Rover kicked things off but it for many the original FJ40 Land Cruiser perfected the idea. This ‘78 example proves the point: supremely reliable (it’s closing in on 500,000 kms from new) and utterly durable - just take a look at the original bodywork - it makes an excellent classics that can work for its living if required.
It was recently imported from the salt-free roads of Japan where it spent all of its life. Classically finished in white with neat details like five spoke alloy wheels, light guards and auxiliary lights to enhance the aesthetics, it also benefits from a retrimmed interior that looks very comfortable.
