THE APPEAL
When Rolls-Royce unveiled the all new Silver Shadow in 1965, it set new standards for high end luxury motoring. The new saloon was seen as a break from its predecessor, the more traditionally styled Silver Cloud III and represent a technological step forward for the British marque. It was also the first attempt by the firm to build a Rolls-Royce for the masses.
Despite the more mass market appeal, the Silver Shadow retained the class and regal like sophistication that was the trademark of Rolls-Royce. In 1977 the Silver Shadow II was announced which added mechanical improvements such as rack and pinion steering and revised front suspension.
The Shadows two tone Sky Blue and Teal is an attractive colour scheme which looks good on this classy Roller
All the chrome work is present and intact with the owner describing it as being in good condition
The owner notes there are some areas of rust evident on the body panels which are shown in the photos. There is also some micro blistering evident on the rear boot lid and left side rear wing
There is some corrosion evident where the drivers side wing meets the sill
Both front and rear screen rubbers are starting to show their age
The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II has always offered classic car enthusiasts the dream ticket to the high table of top class motoring. With acres of leather and veneered wood, coupled with a serene magic carpet ride, the Silver Shadow offers a motoring experience unmatched by other luxury pretenders.
With some of the cosmetics sorted this Roller would make for a very stylish high day and holiday classic.
