The Appeal
Presented in a lovely Leyland White, this GT comes prepared perfectly for fast road or light track use without impeding on creature comforts and has been blessed with an exceptional restoration, partly in the 90’s and partly in the mid 2010’s ultimately producing one of the finest of its kind we have seen for some time. The documentation that comes with this vehicle is second to none, with two full folders stuffed to the brim with restoration pictures, receipts and vintage paperwork with virtually nothing missing that we saw, making this possibly one of the best documented MG B’s on the market today.
The History and Paperwork
- Unbelievable amount of paperwork, pamphlets, tax discs, receipts and test certificates dating back to new
- Original Leyland cars passport to service full of stamps and including the original purchasers address
- Original MG options extras brochure complete with dealer stamp
- Photographic documentation of the restoration in the 90’s
- 24 historic tax discs
- Typed out description of all modifications and maintenance done at the previous restoration with great knowledge and care
- Photographic documentation of the restoration carried out around a decade ago when multiple new parts were fitted
- Previous concourse event competitor
The Interior
- Standard looking interior with nicely re-trimmed seats and furnishings
- Well suited leather sports steering wheel with MG horn pusher and aluminium spokes
- Radio has been replaced with a switch panel for ancillaries such as the electronic fan override
- Crystal clear dials all round with everything, even the quartz clock in working order
- All the switchgear in nice nick with light patina and signs of use but no damage or excessive wearing
- Little wear due to the lack of use over the vendors 9 year ownership on the new furnishings
- Exceptionally clean throughout including the spare wheel well, carpets and headlining
- Some nicely retained features include the centre console map light, gear knob and dials, all having usual patina but all fitting in well
The Exterior
- Leyland white finished to an exquisite standard with a glorious shine
- Mini-lite wheelset anthracite grey are a compliment to it’s motorsport look
- Stainless exhaust too is a nod towards the motorsport appeal with a slight downturn tip and bigger than usual bore yet subdued in sound
- Sebring front and rear valances replace the rubber bumpers, all supported on aluminium
- brackets and perfectly fitted using seam sealer which make the look very factory finish. These have a purpose, particularly the front having air ducts to push cold air at the oil cooler and radiator more effectively
- Slight corrosion on the rear arch lips that would easily be rectified
- Nicely fitted leather and stainless steel bonnet strap
- Red pinstripe applied to follow the chrome door strip
- All chrome trims are in excellent condition with no evident damage or corrosion that we saw on inspection
- All body panels fit well and we are lead to believe a majority of the car is original based on the restoration documentation
The Mechanics
- Starts perfectly with no evidence of rattles or smoke
- Uprated & adjustable Spax shocks and lowered ride height
- Fresh Avon tyres all round
- Engine head has been port polished and freshly reground valves
- The underside of the chassis is exceptionally tidy with just a light coat of underseal
- Most components have evidently been replaced, refreshed or cleaned and this results in a tidy and easy to work on chassis, ideal for the home mechanic
- Some areas of the car have had uprated bushings to assist the handling. This does result in a knocking/creaking noise at slow speeds due to the nature of the materials used and is normal
- Recent MOT certificate shows a clean bill of health mechanically
- Overdrive is equipped but currently this is non operational
- Electronic thermostatic fan with override switch in the cabin
- Extremely clean engine bay with almost no evidence of any oil leaks to see

Over the years this example has had anything and everything the car could wish for making it truly a sublime example, not just visually but mechanically too, going above and beyond necessary maintenance and record keeping.
This is a fine example that would be hard to match and with the excellent history, so meticulously organised and retained making a sure investment.
