Highlights
- 1970’s Flagship Honda
- Six cylinder road bike
- Rare and sought after performance bike
The Background
The Honda CBX was manufactured from 1978 to 1982, powered by a 1047cc inline six-cylinder engine which produced 105 bhp, the CBX was the flagship of the Honda motorbike range and has achieved iconic status over the years.
The CBX was Honda’s first production 6 cylinder road bike with GP racing engine technology. Highly hailed by the motoring press as not just a performance bike but also as a comfortable every day mode of transport it is to this day seen as one of the company's greatest bikes.
The History
The bike is originally from Illinois, shipped over to the UK in July 2017. The current owner purchased the bike unregistered, the import duty has been paid by the importer and documents show the proof of this.
The bike was officially registered to the seller in November 2018 and since the he has only covered around 1000 miles, only used on those dry sunny weekend runs and forms part of a collection that has grown over the years. The CBX was always one on the bucket list for the owner, and it doesn’t disappoint being the consummate all rounder for looks, performance and comfort.
The seller now wishes to reduce their collection of bikes and the Honda will grace anyones garage without needing any attention at all.
The Paperwork
The bike comes with an original owners manual, receipts show a new set of Michelin Pilots, rear Hagon shocks that were replaced and the V5 now shows that it is historic status, so does not require a valid MOT. As mentioned the import duty paperwork is included in the sale of the bike.
Their are a few MOT certificates that show the mileage on the bike, the last one shows 14016 miles on it, showing the low mileage covered since then to the current day.
The Exterior
Wrapped in Michelin Pilot tyres, uprated shocks and in superb condition throughout the CBX is ready to be enjoyed by the new owner. The black stripe on the petrol tank was repainted whilst in the current owners possession as it picked up a light scratch, their are two minor blister marks on the repainted area but this is very minimal.
The seller believes that if this was a rebuild then it has been done to an extremely high standard as he can not tell due to the amazing condition the bike is in.

The leather seat is like new and shows no signs of wear whatsoever, pedals and switch gears are all clean as are the mirrors, the owner has the original ones as well.
The Mechanics
The bikes rear shocks have been changed for Hagon’s, plus new tyres. The seller has covered any servicing required on the bike himself, it has been garaged since ownership and being an avid collector he has meticulously cared for the CBX since it has been part of his collection.
The Appeal
The flagship CBX was a performance bike produced with GP heritage, not just an outright racer but also the comfort of a touring bike as well. Bikes in this condition and mileage are a true classic, boasting amazing acceleration back in its day it would still put to shame some more modern bikes.
Finished in the Candy Red metallic paint and set off with bright chrome work this looks amazing on the driveway or on the road.
