The Appeal
While we love the many 2CV special editions, we’re all-in on this, the AZKB. These mid 70s models were specially built to achieve the lowest possible price - anything that was superfluous was removed. That makes them fully in line with the original ethos for Citroen’s budget family runaround.
The AZKB was initially only available in yellow, as here, and it can be easily identified by the lack of a third rear side window. There are also slimmer bumpers, round headlights from earlier models and a more basic interior.
This lovely 1978 AZKB was restored around eight years ago and is in great condition inside, outside and underneath. It was acquired by the current keeper soon after completion and he has used it sparingly and treated it well. That includes always dry storing it and never using it in the rain.
It is largely factory-correct for an AZKB - the front bumpers have over-riders - and sports some natty period decals inside and out to further liven up the already vibrant aesthetics. We are told that it runs very well and that everything works correctly. Recent work includes a new fuel pump.
Is there anything more jolly than a yellow AZKB 2CV? Looking at this charismatic example, we’re really not sure.
The vendor says:
“The engine runs well, sometimes requires choke if started in cold weather. No known faults.
“Good fun to drive, albeit slow ! A real eye catcher and a car that people love to talk about when parked publicly.”
