The History and Paperwork
- First registered in May 1977
- Little is known about this car's life on the road before the previous owner
- They had acquired the car to restore but life got in the way
- Storing it safely in a barn undercover they forgot about the Stag
- The current owner heard about the car and decided to purchase it in 2019
- This Stag then went through a recommissioning at the hands of a classic car specialist
- The engine got some new parts including new pipes
- Some paperwork in the car on the day shows small expenses from the late 1990s
- There was also an MOT certificate from 2002 found
- Along with this, a Triumph Stag plastic sleeve was also present
- The current owner has an up-to-date V5 present along with an MOT certificate from 2019
- Now it’s your turn to add to the car’s history
The Interior
- Inside this Stag is present very well
- Its tan interior complements the deep red exterior well
- The front seats show little signs of use with only a few minor age-related marks
- This condition is also matched by the rear bench seat
- All of these seats look like they’ll be nice and comfortable on a journey out
- On the floor is a lovely set of tan carpets
- This tan trim doesn’t stop here, the hard-top headliner is also a light tan colour
- The headliner is in good condition with only a small nick that can be seen in the photos
- With this hard top removed, we can flood the cabin with natural light
- The T bar/rollover hoop is wrapped in a hardwearing black vinyl
- There is a soft-top section of the roof hidden under the rear deck
- This wasn’t put up during the photo shoot, but the Vendor has mentioned its in good condition
- Returning to the front of the car we can inspect the dashboard and centre console area
- The black dashboard is void of any large or small cracks
- This can also be said for the cars veneer dash
- It still has a deep sheen and doesn’t seem to have any large areas of delamination
- Set into the dash are several Smiths dials that all look fittingly classic
- A Blaupunkt radio has been fitted but the owner has said that it isn’t the best radio
- Just take the roof off and listen to the V8 instead
- In the boot, there are a few spare parts along with a jack, and full-size spare wheel
- Overall, the interior of this Stag is in good condition when you consider the age of the car
The Exterior
- Designed by Michelotti the Stag looks beautiful from the outside
- This example, finished in a striking red, looks amazing from every angle
- Photographed with the hard top on and off your get to appreciate all its lines
- We didn’t see the soft-top on the day but the current owner says its in good condition
- Although in generally good condition there are some areas of the paint that show their age
- There is some slight bubbling around one of the front wings
- A smaller area can also be found around the driver's door shut
- But the rest of the exterior bodywork appears to be nice and bubble-free
- The chrome bumpers front and rear both look to be in good condition
- Other chrome accents on the exterior are also in lovely condition
- There weren’t any obvious areas of corrosion spotted on these during the photoshoot
- On each corner, you’ll find a well-presented alloy wheel
- These are shod in a matching set of tyres
- Overall, the exterior of this Stag is in good condition when you consider its age
The Mechanics
- Under the bonnet, you’ll find a 3.0 L V8 that sounds amazing
- It then sends its power to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual gearbox
- This gearbox also has an overdrive feature for motorway driving
- The current owner has had the engine overhauled
- On the day of the photos, the car started up without any issues
- It was then slowly driven to the location
- No lengthy drives were undertaken on the public roads so we cannot comment on how it performs out there
- The current owner reports that it does run well, with no known mechanical issues/faults
- They have driven this car to the Silverstone Classic with the Triumph Stag owners club
- Overall, this Stag appears to be in good mechanical condition and raring to get out and explore
Summary
Thanks to the mechanical work carried out by the current owner this Stag should be ready to go from day one of your ownership. So, if you’re after a great-sounding and beautiful looking classic car then look no further than this lovely example.
