Highlights
• Spent its first 2 decades in Guernsey so low mileage
• Part of a well maintained collection
• Superb condition inside and out
The Appeal
This Shadow II really is in incredible condition.
Having started life on Guernsey it only travelled a limited distance around the island during the 15-20 years it lived there, before coming to the mainland around the turn of the millennium.
The two tone gold over metallic brown paint work is pure 1970s nostalgia and gives the car a classic feel that separates it from later models - if you’re going to drive a Shadow, it needs to be as much of the time as it can - and has a fantastic cream interior complete with built in 8-track player.

The Interior
• Stunning cream leather upholstery
• Immaculate brown carpets
Inside the Rolls Royce, the condition in exemplary.
The leather of the seats has only a light patina, a bit more on the driver's seat than the others, and the carpets look almost new throughput most of the car.
The door cards are loaded with chrome, wood, leather and carpet and are in great shape. The wooden veneer of the dash looks excellent with lovely grain and deep gloss, the air vents being heavy chrome items contrasting with the black faced dials.
One nice period feature is the eight track player built in from new.

The Exterior
• Two tone metallic paint
• Lovely chrome
• Excellent condition
Looking sharp in its two tone gold and metallic brown paint, the finish is excellent, smooth and with a deep gloss over excellent panels with no dings.
Around the car there is plenty of chrome and stainless trim which looks to be in very good condition across the bumpers and imposing grill, and of course the Spirit of Ecstasy on the bonnet.
The wheels are dressed in stainless hubcaps with body colour trim details and chrome centre caps, which are all in good condition.

The Mechanics
• Gearbox removed and ring gear replaced in 2010
• Four new callipers, flexi hoses and some hard brake line at the same time
• Sealed beam headlights replaced
• Starter rebuilt in 2010
The car has been part of a well maintained collection of Rolls Royces, sharing a purpose built garage with another Shadow II.
There are a few receipts with the car for sorting out small issues such as a non start which required a new Opus ignition unit. The brakes received a big overhaul in 2010, with four new calipers and flexi hoses, and much of the solid line being replaced.
That year the gearbox was also removed to replace the ring gear and the starter motor was rebuilt a year later.
The owner tells us the car runs and drives very well and is as smooth as you would expect from a Rolls Royce.

Summary
This is a stunning example of a Silver Shadow II. The colour scheme is eye catching and perfectly retro in a surprisingly modern way, as the brown palette has come back into vogue for car colours.
The condition is very good indeed, and it presents well inside and out, and we’d buy it for the eight track plater alone!
