The Appeal
For many, the lesser-seen 350 SL is the pick of the R107 bunch. Why? Well, the 350 features the smallest of the V8s, the one with the shortest of strokes and therefore the most eager to rev. It was also lower geared, making for a more sporting character out on the road.
This 1977 example is in very smart order and comes with an advisory-free MOT valid until 6th March 2026. The vendor tells us:
"I purchased the car on 11th March 2016 from a friend of a friend’s family in Dorset. They had owned the car since 1991 when the grandfather purchased it at Auction with 109,502 miles on the clock. They went on to have it stripped and restored.
"When I purchased the car in 2016 it had only done 109,944 miles. So the car had not been used. I got the car as a non runner and took it straight to my local Mercedes specialist SS Motors in Weybridge Surrey. They got the car running and on the road for me.
"The service history and age related works that I have had carried out totals over £15k from 2016-2025. Nearly 10k carried out at the Famous SL Shop in Stratford upon Avon. They carried out their Health Check Inventory which I went on to have all the work done by them to bring this amazing machine up to scratch. There are no faults to report at this current time. It’s just had a £500 service and mot carried out in March 2025 by SS Motors. It starts and runs great with that V8 roar!"
The SL comes with a wealth of service history, spanning right back to the 1970s, including notable expenditure during the last decade for which the vendor includes all invoices. If you've always promised yourself an R107 SL, now's your chance to get your hands on a really well-sorted example.image.png5.04 MB
