The Appeal
The Mercedes-Benz W123 is the quintessential high-mileage hero, famously capable of travelling stratospheric distances with minimal maintenance and most importantly, minimal issues. However, this 1979 200D is the exception to the rule, with just 221 kilometres on the odometer!
Yes, you did read that correctly. This car is effectively ‘new old stock’, even down to the unworn original set of Pirelli tyres. Allow us to explain how this came to be…
Upon taking delivery of their brand new Mercedes-Benz in 1979, the first owner parked the car in their garage and tragically, sustained damage to their eyesight through illness the very next day. There the car sat, and that’s all that it did over the next four decades. In 2020, the original owner’s daughter sold the car to the vendor who has continued its preservation. Offered in unrivalled original condition, even down to the paperwork and supplying dealer’s keyring on the ignition key, this is a true ‘timewarp’ car, the likes of which we seldom see.
For Mercedes-Benz collectors, surely this has to be the Holy Grail?
