THE APPEAL
Without question, Harley-Davidson knows a thing or two about producing motorcycles. For over 120 years the Wisconsin-based manufacturer has been providing fun, thrill and freedom on two wheels for riders all over the globe.
In its 74th year, the manufacturer attempted their first and subsequently their last attempt at a café racer style bike, the XLCR. Designed by ‘Willie G’ motorcycle stylist and grandson of co-founder William H. Davidson's ambition was to use the standard Sportster base but with added rock and roll, renegade style that had erupted into the motorcycle scene. Unfortunately, the XCLR wasn’t regarded as a success and production only lasted a few years, with approximately only 3,134 bikes produced.
This 1977 example originally toured the roads of Missouri before being purchased and imported by the vendor who has had sole ownership of the motorcycle for over 31 years. Treated to a selection of specialist upgrades and custom work over the years, the bike now boasts a re-bored V-Twin 1300cc engine with dual fire ignition. Presented in good condition with the occasional age-related blemish, this rare cafe racer is an attractive and unique take on the beloved motorcycle style and would make a great weekend rider or donor for a more custom motorcycle.

SUMMARY
A café racer made by one of the best motorcycle producers that have ever existed, the XLCR was arguably a bit of an experiment that didn't really work out but to us, that's part of its attraction.
Ride it, store it, whatever you do, you’ll be one of very few that have owned a XLCR especially in the UK.
