THE APPEAL
The Fiat X1/9 designed by Bertone of Italy has a very distinctive style with a mid-engine configuration.
They are well known for their lively handling and performance and have been in the news recently celebrating 50 years since the first cars rolled off the production line.
This Mk1 example was recently imported from South Africa so has enjoyed a salt free climate as well as being stored indoors for most of its life. The car has had an easy life, and even more so because it was a display in a museum for a number of years.
The previous vendor felt there was room for improvement though and put the car through an intensive six-year restoration. The paintwork was professionally prepared and resprayed, and the mechanicals had a complete overhaul. The result is a very eye-catching car which is ready to be enjoyed.

The X1/9 has a loyal following of fans, so help is at hand from the club members. Spares are generally easy to find, and the car is simple and easy to work on making it an ideal choice for the DIY mechanic to keep on the road.
