Highlights
- Recently resprayed and subjected to a comprehensive mechanical service
- Desirable RHD UK supplied car with fuel injection and overdrive on 3rd and 4th gears
- Large paperwork file including old MOTs dating back to 1979
The Appeal
Introduced in 1969, the Triumph TR6 is heralded by some as the last of the original British sports cars. By this time, even the legendary E-type Jaguar was evolving into a four seater grand tourer and the small British roadster was becoming increasingly scarce.
Especially successful across the Atlantic, UK supplied TR6s, like this right-hand drive example from the last year of production, are somewhat in the minority. Fitted with mechanical fuel injection and overdrive on 3rd and 4th gears, this is a remarkably usable classic that effortlessly keeps pace with modern traffic.
Recently resprayed in its original colour and subject to a comprehensive mechanical service, this Triumph really looks the part and is ready to be driven.

The Interior
- Two-tone cloth seats utilising corduroy-style fabric
- The dashboard is free from cracks and the veneer fascia presents well
- All the switchgear and gauges function as they should
On the inside, this Triumph is very well presented and there is very little wear commensurate with the low mileage. The seat covers consist of two contrasting corduroy-style fabrics and look to be in very good shape.
The vinyl on the headrests and door cards is in good order with little wear to be seen. The same goes for the steering wheel, gear lever and pedals which present well.

Carpeting throughout is eminently presentable and does not warrant changing and the same goes inside the boot where a full-size spare wheel is present. The vendor informs us that the switchgear and instruments work exactly as they should and we observe that they all look to be in good order. A hole has been cut for a radio although there is currently nothing fitted.
The Exterior
- Magenta paintwork has been recently refinished
- Looks to be very smart underneath
- Convertible roof operates well
You can’t help noticing this Triumph as it is resplendent in a striking shade of Magenta – purple to you and me. It's unashamedly ‘70s and really suits the car in our opinion.
The vendor informs us that it was recently resprayed and we can see that the job was completed to a high standard. The bodywork underneath looks straight and untroubled by corrosion. The good news continues underneath where the chassis presents exceedingly well.

It sits upon smart, painted steel wheels and the vendor informs us that the tyres have ample tread remaining. The chrome bumpers all present well, as does the convertible roof which operates smoothly.
The Mechanics
- 2.5-litre straight-six engine
- Lucas mechanical fuel injection
- Overdrive in 3rd and 4th gear
The vendor informs us that this Triumph has recently had a very comprehensive service and runs exceedingly well as a result. Out on the road it is reportedly tight and responsive, and these TR6s are fantastic fun to drive.
Benefitting from overdrive, this is a great car for cruising as well as hustling down your favourite bit of B road. The mechanical fuel injection has been serviced and performs as it should.
Summary
Right-hand drive TR6s in as good condition as this 1976 example are now quite hard to find, making this a fabulous opportunity. We think this would be the perfect car for road trips as it is mechanically in fine fettle and of course benefits from a convertible roof.
If you fancy a British roadster, this is certainly one to consider…
