- Wonderful, revvy V4 engine and largely lightweight aluminium body, creating a nimble drivers car
- The 33,970 miles are believed to be genuine with paperwork from various decades backing this up
The Appeal
Although Lancia is not a common household name today, the brand has a strong racing and rallying heritage dating back decades and are famous for making not just competitive cars, but truly beautiful ones at that.
The Fulvia, meaning ‘Blond’ in Italian, is well known for combining all the well known aspects of Lancia with a fabulous engine, light weight and adorable looks from every angle.
This particular Fulvia has had an extremely comprehensive overhaul mechanically and aesthetically resulting in an absolutely drop-dead gorgeous piece of Lancia’s history and fit for any collection.
The History and Paperwork
- A huge amount of proof of the recent restoration in the form of receipts and pictures with full breakdowns of parts and work carried out including faults found prior to restoration
- MOT and Road Tax exempt
- Genuine mileage can be backed up with MOT’s and various documentation dating back to 1985 where the mileage has been recorded at 30,238. In the early 2000’s it is also believed the car was in storage for some time keeping the mileage to a minimum
- Were told that the previous keeper was passionate about the car, keeping the car in their possession for around 6 years and being very thorough with maintenance, keeping a good record of work
- Now painted in an absolutely beautiful Rosso red by Auto Bodytech of Inchbrook, the car was previously white and has been painted to an exceptional standard
The Interior
- The vast majority of the interior is believed to be totally original, the black leather seats particularly are in wonderful condition showing very little wear, especially given the age and have evidently been well tended to
- The wooden dashboard facia is an original item although sourced from another car but clearly looks the part and has been fitted with new dial glass to keep the drivers view of the dials nice and clear, freshening the appearance
- Large amounts of wiring has been done to ensure proper function of the ancillaries and creature comforts including work to the heater matrix and fan
- A brand new perforated and pleated headlining has been fitted, cream in colour along with a new rear shelf trim
- Given the mileage of the car and the condition of the seats, it is possible the maroon carpets too are original as they fit perfectly and are in a very good way with very little wear or discolouration even in the higher contact areas
- The whole interior has a wonderfully original look and feel complete with very light patina and wear in keeping with the low mileage, an absolutely terrific place to be and undoubtedly Lancia
The Exterior
- Subject to a bare metal respray in 2018, the car has undergone many hours of careful work resulting in an exquisitely finished exterior, fitting for any event
- New boot floor, front wing half panels, headlight mounting panel, rear valance and fuel tank
- Originally white, the car now wears a classic Rosso red
- Standard steel 14 inch wheels are shod in Flaken brand tyres and have been freshly refurbished and powder coated in a bright silver paint and wear original centre caps that retain light patina
- The standard chromed bumpers remain which are in good order, some light surface marks but nothing out of the ordinary. The passenger side rear bumper has seen a repair on the corner which would benefit from a better repair or replacement just to keep it up to par with the otherwise excellent overall condition
- The exterior lamps in the case of the rears have been renewed meaning nice clean and clear lights with original chrome trim surrounds. The front headlights have some minor discoloration inside.
- The windows are surrounded in bright metal trim work which at the time of restoration have been removed and now refitted very well and retain a great shine all round and a new windscreen has been fitted
- All round a very exceptional car having just enough work done to keep the car looking very very good indeed but retaining some original, pleasing features
The Mechanics
- Reported to run and drive extremely well, this car is evidently well sorted mechanically having seen a full carburettor overhaul and tuneup by Maynard Engines
- The cooling system has been flushed and checked and the engine serviced along with new leads, rotor arm, plugs and filters
- The heating fan has been worked on and the heater matrix replaced
- A new pedal box will keep things feeling fresh under your feet and a new clutch cable too will help keep a nice light clutch feel and improve the driving experience
- The underneath of this fine car is truly magnificent. Exceptionally clean front to rear, the whole underside has been cleaned and treated to ensure excellent resistance to the elements.
- All the suspension components and exhaust appear in fine fettle, these too showing evidence of maintenance and only very minimal patches of surface corrosion
- All four tyres of quality branding have nearly new tread and are only around 1 year in age
Summary
An absolutely adorable little car with huge amounts of character, this is a fine example inside and out. Boasting fabulously low mileage combined with many original features, this is a true gem of the marque and an appreciating asset.
Having the bulk of a complete restoration done, being MOT and road tax exempt and being a frugal yet exhilarating 1300cc, this is an economical way to have proper fun in a true Italian sports car.
