THE APPEAL
Incorporating many principles of the earlier DS models and combining attributes from the GS and SM, the aerodynamic CX looked radically modern and was the last big Citroën designed without external influence.
Winning the European car of the year award in 1975 the refined CX was launched in the UK in July 1975 and went on to offer a plethora of power plants and trim levels including the Prestige and Safari estate variants.
Now scarce, this impressive example is finished in the handsome combination of silver paintwork with a blue period-correct interior offering bags of room.
A well maintained 2.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine sits up front and the floaty, hydropnuematic self-levelling suspension and DIRAVI power steering happily operates as intended.
With no known faults, this classic French beauty is described as ‘in fine fettle’ and an ‘absolute joy to drive’- surely a dream car for any Citroën devotee.
