THE APPEAL
The Triumph Stag has long been the go to V8 cruiser for classic car enthusiasts. The British 2+2 luxury sports car was launched in 1970 and was styled by Giovanni Michelotti. The Italian styling, which was utilised across the Triumph model range at the time, was a shrewd move. The Stag’s V8 engine was the icing on the cake however, which makes it a desirable and popular classic today. The 1975 Triumph Stag on sale with Car and Classic is a Mk2 example finished in classic Topaz Orange.

THE INTERIOR

THE EXTERIOR

THE MECHANICS
- 3.0 litre V8 engine which was rebuilt in 1993
- 4 Speed Manual Gearbox with Overdrive
- The speedometer is currently showing 12,957 miles which is believed to be 212,957. The history file notes that new timing chains and exhaust valves were fitted in February 2002 at 177,300 miles
- The current owner has carried out much of their own maintenance over the years and has upgraded and moved the alternator to facilitate the mechanical water pump conversion, which is a known upgrade for Stags
- The Stag has reconditioned Stomberg carbs fitted
- It also benefits from Electronic Ignition and is fitted with an immobiliser which the owner states works as it should
- They go on to say the Stag was serviced by them in September last year and drives very well thanks to the manual gearbox, which they say is the best option for the V8 engine.
SUMMARY
There is no denying the appeal of the Triumph Stag V8, especially a T-Bar convertible finished in bright orange. It really is the colour of the summer. This example has been used and enjoyed by its current owner, taking it on numerous trips to France and back. They say it never missed a beat. This Stag presents as an honest example that you can jump in and use and enjoy. And this can be done whilst tidying up some of the cosmetics along the way.
