1975 Triumph Stag

Highlights

  • Extensive history file
  • Fantastic original condition
  • Low mileage
  • Factory hard top

The Appeal

The Triumph Stag was launched in 1970 and offered 2+2 seating, a luxurious cabin and a V8 engine which was all wrapped up in a stylish package designed by Giovanni Michelotti.
This particular Stag comes in convertible form with an accompanying factory hard top and is presented in fantastic all-round condition for its age, having been recently recommissioned after a long time in dry storage.
Finished in maple Brown with a matching brown interior the Stag has been kept as original as possible and is an excellent example of this sought after Triumph classic which offers relaxed motoring with its automatic gearbox, V8 engine and power steering.
With just over 50,000 miles on the clock and coming with a handwritten notebook detailing its history along with copious amounts of paperwork if you’re in the market for a stylish and classic British sports car, this one certainly fits the bill.

The History and Paperwork

  • First registered in 1975
  • Documented service history and mileage
  • Large file of invoices and MOTs
  • Handwritten history
  • Triumph Club materials
  • Original owner’s manual and handbooks
  • V5c present
  • Current MOT expires 01/09/2024
  • 2 sets of keys
  • Historic vehicle
  • Spare wheel, jack and tools
Being kept in long-term dry storage for many years helps to explain the incredible condition of this car, which has had no discernible restoration work done to it at all, other than some minor paint corrections made at some time and being thoroughly recommissioned and fettled by its last two Triumph enthusiast owners.
The car is reported to be an absolute delight to drive, starting on the button every time and is only being sold due to the vendor not having the time to enjoy it as much as he would like.

The Interior

  • Brown interior
  • Electric windows
  • Excellent condition
The interior is finished in brown and is incredible condition for its age showing no significant signs of any wear and no rips, tears, scuffs or damage either, with the carpets, door cards and headlining all being clean and in good condition.
The seats are nice and comfortable and the wooden dashboard is in good condition with all the dials and switches reported to be working correctly, with only some slight lacquer peel to the wooden centre console.
The black convertible hood is new so there’s no issues there in terms of fit or leaks and the matching factory hard top is also in fine condition and fits correctly to the car’s body.
There is an updated Kenwood stereo fitted and in the glove box you’ll find the owner’s wallet complete with its original handbook and stamped up service book.
The boot area is clean and dry and complete with the hard top stand, tool kit, spare wheel and jack.

The Exterior

  • Maple Brown paintwork
  • Excellent alloy wheels all with recent tyres
  • Fantastic overall condition
Finished in the very 70’s colour of Maple Brown the Stag the car presents extremely well with only a few very minor marks in its otherwise exceptional overall paintwork.
The body panels and panel gaps are all straight and uniform and even the external chrome trim and bumpers appear nice and bright, though there is some pitting to the door handles which one would expect to find on an unrestored car of this age.
The alloy wheels are new and unmarked and all have good recent matching rubber fitted with all the lights being nice and clear and free from any cracks or damage.
Both the convertible hood and the hard top fit correctly and snugly to the car and, bearing in mind that the body panels are all original the whole car is in remarkable condition and looks sensational.

The Mechanics

  • 3.0 V8
  • Automatic transmission
  • Fully recommissioned
  • Excellent service history
  • Regularly maintained and serviced
One look under the bonnet shows a nicely kept engine bay, always a good sign of a well looked after and well maintained car, and the same is true looking underneath the car where everything appears to be very solid and clean.
Recent works include an overhaul of the cooling system and the carburettors in addition to regular maintenance, oil services and general fettling.
The car is reported to be in excellent mechanical health, starting easily and driving nicely, with no issues to report or advise.

The Summary

The 3.0 litre V8 coupled with its power steering and automatic transmission makes for effortless and comfortable cruising with the added option of open-topped or hard top motoring dependant upon your mood or the weather.
This exceptional Triumph Stag is a great 2+2 classic sports tourer with a touch of luxury and a real sense of style that is presented in almost time-warp original condition with a comprehensive history file and genuine low mileage.
