1975 Suzuki GT500

Highlights

  • Race prepared by renowned specialist Burnout Bikes
  • Built using genuine Seeley performance parts
  • Built for VMCC Festival of 1000 Bikes

The Appeal

Built by Burnout Bikes for the VMCC Festival of 1000 Bikes in 2013, this Suzuki is a lightweight machine that boasts impressive performance from its 500cc two-stroke engine.
Released in 1975, the GT500 was something of a last hurrah for Suzuki’s big two-strokes.

This Colin Seeley racing-style example incorporates lightweight Seeley parts and has a really purposeful appearance.

The vendor informs us that this bike is as good to ride as it is to look at and we think it will make for a wonderful addition to any bike collection.

The History and Paperwork

  • Registered as a 1975 example
  • Built for the Vintage Motorcycle Club Festival of 1000 Bikes in 2013
  • Accompanied by build book from Burnout Bikes
  • Historic MOT / road tax status
  • The vendor reports that there is some race pedigree
  • Desirable registration befitting of this bike’s sporting nature

The Condition

  • Excellent condition
  • New tyres
With its sculptural tank and seat cowling, there is a real sense of speed to this Suzuki’s design language.

It truly looks like it’s doing 100 mph standing still, which is testament to the talents of renowned motorcycle builder Burnout Bikes who constructed this GT500 racer in 2013.
The vendor points out that the bike incorporates numerous Seeley parts, making this a bonafide period-style racer. Finished in silver, the bike’s frame complements the bare stainless steel and aluminium components, in turn showing off some intricate welding.
There are no signs of past damage or indeed any blemishes we could see.

We are informed that the wheels are in excellent order and the tyres are new.

The Mechanics

  • 493cc two-stroke parallel twin
  • Strong performance
The vendor informs us that this Suzuki starts and runs really well, with the eager two-stroke power unit very happy to rev.

There is of course a little smoke from unburnt two-stroke oil, but nothing untoward. We understand that the bike accelerates strongly through the gears and has ample braking to match - aided by the front disc which Suzuki first fitted to the GT500 in 1975.
The Suzuki sounds great without being overly loud, making it a great bike to use on the road.

Summary

Achingly beautiful and eminently usable, this Suzuki GT500 is a fantastic motorcycle that could be yours…
Built to a high standard from exquisite components, few bikes are such a pleasure to own and ride as this.
