The Appeal

Just wow. This remarkable ‘75 911 can only be described as a labour of love. Since arriving in the UK, it has been treated to a full restoration with a total build cost in excess of £150,000. This work was undertaken by classic Porsche glitterati like Riviera Autobody, Stuttgart Classics and 13 Stitches.
The project has clearly been guided by a commitment to high standards and a firm vision to create a car that blends some great retro themes. The iconic orange exterior with its lovely details like the centre fuel cap, Bosch headlights and polished Fuchs, is really just a warm up for this car’s showpiece. The magnificent interior by 13 Stitches is a paean to 70s 911 style, mixing the orange of the exterior with a hand-stitched purple finish. It is a proper statement piece that has, unsurprisingly, been featured in two magazines since it was completed in 2023.
Yet the car is much more than an aesthetic joy. The mechanicals and running gear were thoroughly rejuvenated during the restoration. There is a rebuilt 2.4L flat six from a 911E, upgraded wiring loom, new independent rear suspension and upgraded brakes with six-pot Billet callipers on the front and four-pot callipers on the back.
With so little time having elapsed since completion, the car arrives on the market in virtually ‘showroom-fresh’ condition. This is one for the collectors who like to mix admiring their cars with occasional enthusiastic use.

The vendor says:

"This is without doubt one of the best examples we have seen. The bespoke exhaust system makes an excellent sound when the car is on song!"

The History and Paperwork

  • Delivered new to the US in 1975 as a 911S coupé, according to seller
  • Imported into the UK in 2016
  • One UK-registered keeper
  • DVLA records engine as 2,687cc but vendor advises motor is a 2.4L 911E unit
  • Extensive restoration completed in 2023
  • Current UK registration document included
  • £150,000 build cost completed in 2023
  • Stuttgart Classics stripped the car using a rotisserie system
  • Riviera Autobody repaired the bodywork and repainted the car
  • 13 Stitches retrimmed the interior including dashboard, carpets, seats, headlining and door cards
  • Fitted with a rebuilt 2.4L 911E engine and Type 901 gearbox
  • Featured in two magazines
  • Comprehensive history file with invoices and an A4 book of restoration photos
  • MOT to 17th March 2025 with no advisories

The Condition

  • Eye-catching classic ‘70s orange paintwork finished to a very high standard by Riviera Autobody
  • Bodywork extensively restored by the same technicians and completed in 2023
  • Paintwork presents exceptionally well with no notable blemishes
  • Well detailed exterior with centre fuel camp and Bosch headlights that cost £3,000
  • Fuchs alloys with quality tyres in very good order as shown
  • Retrimmed statement interior by 13 Stitches in virtually unused condition
  • This work covered dashboard, seats, carpet, headlining, and door cards
  • Four spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel and front and rear seatbelts fitted
  • Engine bay is in very clean order with neat touches to replicate interior colour scheme
  • Underside of the car looks in very good order with no structural advisories on MOT
It is easy to see why the build cost was over £150,000 for this example. It presents at a very high level, the bodywork with its flush, consistent panel fit and high quality paintwork - in classic 70s orange - indicating the experience of the restorers involved. Clever details abound outside, whether it is the centre fuel filler - with its bespoke ‘Fuel’ etching - or the modified ‘911ST’ boot badge in gold.
The same attention to detail applies inside. We can’t remember a 911 interior that has quite the impact of this car’s magnificent purple and orange cabin by specialist 13 Stitches. It is as much a reminder of the trimmer’s art as a design statement. With little use since completion, it presents much as it surely would have done when it was completed in 2023.

The Mechanics

  • Rebuilt 2.4-litre 911 E engine with twin carburettors
  • Type 901 manual gearbox
  • Upgraded brakes with six-pot Billet callipers at the front and four-pot callipers at the rear
  • Wiring loom upgraded with an updated fuse box
  • New independent rear suspension fitted, replacing torsion bars
  • Reworked oil side filler and modified fuel filler with centre cap as shown
  • No advisories on current MOT
A good 911 restomod has to be as much about how it goes as how it shows. On that criteria, this car definitely delivers. The renovation included a thorough reworking of the mechanicals and running gear.
It began life as a 2.7L G-Body 911 that was first registered in the USA. It is now fitted with a 2.4L engine from a 911E. We are told the motor was extensively inspected and rebuilt before being installed and mated to the Type 901 gearbox.
Other improvements include replacing the rear torsion bar set-up with a fully independent rear suspension system. The brakes have been similarly enhanced with six-pot Billet callipers up front and a four-pot set-up at the back. Elsewhere, the wiring loom has been upgraded with a new fuse box, the oil side filler modified, and the fuel tank altered to allow a centre filler.
The car has been little used since the work was undertaken by well-regarded 911 specialists. The result, as the current advisory-free MOT confirms, is a car in very good mechanical shape.
