The Appeal
Evolved out of Austin Healey's cheeky 'Frogeye' Sprite, the Midget endured through a long production run thanks to its simple, durable and entertaining charms. As such it has been a key part of many classic motorists' motorised histories and good examples remain in strong demand.
Just like its big brother MGB, MG wisely saw fit to little change the Midget during its life. There was a switch to Triumph power for the final cars, plus of course rubber bumpers, but otherwise the last cars are much the same as those delicate early examples.
This enthusiasm is also no-doubt fuelled by the sheer ease of owning these stylish little cars. Alongside superb and inexpensive parts supply is a club and ownership scene that is second to none. Buying one of these cars is not just rewarding in and of itself, but for the social network it immediate provides.
This lovely Snapdragon Yellow Mk4 1500 demonstrates why a good Midget is such a fantastic buy. Lovingly maintained by its few owners - one of whom kept it for 32 years - it sports an older restoration. With few miles since and clearly cared for, it remains in superb condition. Few cars deliver fun quite like a Midget and this one looks very tempting.
