The Appeal

In most regards, the Montecarlo was more of a Pininfarina creation than a Lancia one. While the car was built around a lightly modified Lancia Beta drivetrain, the car's bulk was made up of Fiat 124 and Ferrari components, with a full Pininfarina design that was angular while maintaining a subtle, stylish curvature - finished with extravagant buttresses. Sergio Pininfarina was so proud of the car that he insisted on the script branding. A 'signature' piece for the studio.

This beautiful mid-engined sports car has been very well looked after and recently underwent a comprehensive refurbishment provided by the ALF Centre of South Africa. All of this work has been documented, and much of the parts have been sourced by the UK's own Montecarlo Hospital. It's a highly authentic, highly evocative restoration that's sure to charm anybody seeking one of Italy's boldest designs.
