The Appeal
Part of the 02 series designed for executives, this is a car that was not originally intended to be fitted with a 2-litre engine. It was the M10 engine designer and BMW's head of product planning who came up with the idea, after discovering that they had both modified their 1573cc factory cars with a 1990cc engine. It arrived on the market in 1968 and became the benchmark for a sporty, compact but elegant coupé.
This particular car has had only two registered owners since 1979 - and both have clearly taken good care of it. This characterful car was kept inside on a wooden floor for almost three decades before undergoing a complete restoration in three phases from 2012 to 2021. The car has covered less than 5,000 km since its mechanical restoration, and its original paintwork has been preserved.
The result is a superb retro classic that is sure to appeal to any enthusiast.
