1975 Alpine A310 VG 1600

Strong points

  • Old restoration in very good condition
  • Modified for amateur competition use
  • Upgraded and rebuilt 1.6 litre A110 engine with twin Webers
  • Very rare 4-cylinder A310 model
  • Influential design and latest development by Jean Rédélé
  • Powerful and well maintained rear wheel drive rally car

The appeal

The older A110 may be better known, but the A310 was perhaps more influential. It was the last car developed by Alpine founder Jean Rédélé, and its engineering was 'borrowed' by Lotus and DeLorean to create the DMC-12. Trevor Fiore's clean lines also strongly influenced Monteverdi's magnificent Hai 450.
The A310 was designed to be a more spacious and comfortable replacement for the A110, while retaining the same rally-inspired layout. This beautiful and rare 4-cylinder 'VG' car - built for just one year - is part of the illustrious competitive history of these performance cars. It was restored in 2011 to a high standard and has been fitted as a rally car with arch extensions, roll bar, harness and a 1600cc A110 engine with twin twin-body Webers.
The specification is attractive and so is the condition. It sports a splendid classic light blue, with tasteful decals, auxiliary headlights and Gotti bolt-on wheels adding to its appeal.
