The Appeal

Car manufacturers take note: Four-door family cars needn't be boring.

Alfa Romeo's mid-century success was largely due to the fact that its practical saloons shared the same drivetrain and handling characteristics as its range-topping sports cars. Like all 105 Series Alfas, the Giulia saloon received Giuseppi Busso's all-alloy Nord twin-cam, which drove the rear wheels via a low-geared five-speed manual transmission. Powerful disc brakes were fitted to all wheels, while sporty double-wishbone suspension kept the front end in check. It was, in short, a brilliant package.

Around one million Giulias were made over a fifteen-year production run, making it among the best-selling cars in Alfa Romeo's history. That said, they're a far less common sight here in the UK today, making this imported 1975 example a mightily compelling proposition.

This LHD Giulia arrived in the UK in 2023, coming from the favourable climate of Southern Italy. Since landing on British soil, it has been road registered and a comprehensive overhaul of the mechanicals has been carried out. The paintwork has been refreshed too, with a coat of Blue Olandese. This car oozes street-cred. It won't ever win a beauty pageant for perfect presentation but should make the next owner welcome at every cool car cruise.

Reportedly rust-free, exempt from road tax/MOT and ready to enjoy, this lovely little Giulia has plenty going for it.

The vendor remarks:

"It is an iconic shape, timeless classic and also a perfectly good daily drive. I am only selling it because I have another project."
