The Appeal
The last separate chassis TR was a particular sort of sports car: grunty, quick and designed to be driven hard. Perfect, then, for conversion to a race and rally car.
This 1974 TR6 remained with the same family to 2015, when it was acquired by experienced rally driver and classic car restorer, Paul Blackburn. Then began a £50,000 restoration and conversion into a very competitive race and rally car finished in smart French Blue. The work is extensively documented in the history file and photographs.
It has competed in various events, including the Isle of Mull rally in 2015 and 2016, but has only covered 2,000 miles. That allows the buyer to acquire a professionally evolved race and rally car in much the same structural and running condition when Blackburn completed it. It is prepared to Motorsport FIA UK regulations so could be used for high profile rallies, sprints and hill climbs.
That specification is certainly impressive. Now running on triple carburettors rather than the factory PI system, it is a very competitive car in good running order. Whether you choose to exercise it competitively or simply enjoy a very well sorted TR6 on Britain’s back roads, this is a vanishingly rare opportunity for the spirited driver.
