THE APPEAL

Designed to replace the very popular Fiat 125, the 132 was a more refined and luxurious model, influenced by the prestigious 130, intended to offer high levels of safety and comfort.
Launched in 1972 with two twin-cam four-cylinder engines of 1,592 and 1,756 cc, a four-speed gearbox with optional fifth gear and four disc brakes, the 132 had a pleasant and sober design, characterized by four round headlights and clean, uncluttered lines.
The interiors were well finished, with imitation wood inserts on the dashboard and a very complete instrumentation.

The first series of the 132 was considered somehow too soft and comfort-oriented for Italian tastes and was updated in 1974 with the new GL and GLS "Gran Luce" versions, with modified suspensions, larger windows, chrome grille, numerous aesthetic and mechanical modifications and new anti-corrosion treatments.
This 1974 Fiat 132 is one of the first examples of the better equipped GLS version with a more pleasant overall design, the 1.8 liter engine with power increased to 107 hp and the important anti-corrosion treatment which ensures its durability.
Richly equipped, it comes with the very rare air conditioning system, electric windows, adjustable steering wheel and special interiors ordered directly from the Fiat dealership when new, with door cards and seats covered in checkered fabric.
This 132 had only one owner, a doctor who bought it new and used it for home visits for years, always maintaining it scrupulously.
This Fiat flagship has never been restored and is in completely original condition.

The paint is shiny and shows only a few light scratches, the bumpers and all chrome parts are bright and the headlights and windows are intact and transparent.
The underbody appears well preserved, with slight localized traces of oxidation.
Inside, the linear dashboard houses the rare air conditioning system and a pleasant and complete imitation wood dash panel with large Veglia Borletti gauges.
On the seats, the original fabric is still present under the checkered covers.
Under the front-opening bonnet which still features the original soundproofing material lining, the Lampredi twin-cam engine, adopted by Fiat for over four decades, here in the powerful 1.8 liter 107 hp version, appears in good condition, clean and well-preserved.

The seller attests that the sole owner has always taken great care of this car and that all the mechanics are in good working order, but still recommends a thorough service for greater safety, as the car has not been regularly driven for a few years.
The tyres are in good condition but dated.
Fast, well equipped and well finished, the 132, intended to replace the 125, soon became the de-facto Fiat flagship, due to the poor sales of the ambitious 130.
The second series enriched its features and refined its line and mechanics, making it capable of competing with the best European rivals.
With a discreet and elegant design, a modern and well-equipped interior and excellent road holding, the 132 is a pleasant car full of seventies charm.
This well-maintained and richly equipped example represents a very interesting opportunity to get behind the wheel of a significant, versatile, easy-to-manage and increasingly rare high-class sedan.
