1974 Fiat 130 BC Shooting Brake Concept Car

Highlight

  • A unique concept car
  • Found as a 'barn find' and recently restored
  • Fiat Gold coloured bodywork and preserved interior upholstered in Alcantara and tartan fabric
  • Extremely rare and fascinating - this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

The Attractions

In the 1970s, Fiat was going through a turbulent period. The Fiat 130 had proved disappointing, failing to be sold in large numbers, despite being a car of pleasing appearance and capable of remarkable performance. During the same period, numerous interesting concept cars were created and the Shooting Brake body style became increasingly fashionable.
This particular car has unique characteristics. Resplendent in its metallic gold colouring, with a well-preserved interior upholstered in Alcantara and Tartan fabric, it is one of the most famous and coveted concept cars ever produced by Fiat - something enthusiasts will not fail to notice - with exclusive Tartan upholstery, gold livery and characteristic spoiler.
Found as a barn find, this extraordinary car has received an extensive restoration, but unfortunately it is not accompanied by documentation and there is no official proof of its production.
What we do know, however, is that it is a truly splendid car. All the mechanics are still in excellent condition and the precious interior upholstered in Alcantara and Tartan fabric is still present and well preserved.
There is no doubt that we are dealing with a very special car that deserves your full attention!

History and Documentation

  • Registered in 1974
  • Unfortunately we know almost nothing about this car's past
  • Found as a barn find and painstakingly restored; therefore no maintenance documentation is available
  • The seller tells us that the number of previous owners is also unknown
  • The five-digit odometer shows 38,668 km

Conditions

  • The car is in tip-top shape after restoration, with only a few slight signs of use
  • Painted in a splendid Fiat Gold colour
  • The bodywork is correct and well maintained, with no visible signs of corrosion, dents or scratches
  • The original wheels appear well maintained

Starting from a prestigious Fiat 130 and turning it into a Shooting Brake is a very attractive idea, and you can see that everything in this car expresses the typical 70s charm with a touch of extravagance.
We have been informed that this splendid car has received all the attention it deserves, and that it is solid and correct, with traces of corrosion and use almost imperceptible following the restoration: after all, you only have to admire it to realise that. What more do you need to fall in love with it? Although it uses the bumpers of the Fiat 130 and the front view is rather similar to that of the production car, the large glass surfaces enhance its retro-futurist style.
  • Interior preserved with seats upholstered in Alcantara and special fabric with Scottish Tartan pattern
  • There are no visible signs of rips or other defects and the seats look attractive and comfortable
  • Wood trim looks splendid
  • The instrumentation and controls look good and we have been informed that they work properly

The style of the 1970s is certainly not known for its restraint and the interior of this beautiful car is no exception. The Alcantara seats sport a centre section upholstered in tartan fabric and the ambience is further enhanced by the pleasant wood-panelled dashboard. The seats appear comfortable, well padded and free of visible flaws. The soft, thick carpeting looks equally luxurious.
The result is a unique and cosy ambience whose pleasantly kitsch touches are probably even more appealing today than they were in 1974.

The Mechanics

  • 3.2-litre V6 engine
  • 3-speed automatic transmission
  • The engine compartment is in excellent condition
  • We have been told that this car has been restored and rebuilt, but the seller has assured us that the car is true to its original specification
The sound of Fiat's 3.2-litre V6 is one of the most distinctive and loved by enthusiasts. It creates a very atmospheric soundtrack and still offers impressive performance, delivering an impressive 167 hp. It really is the perfect engine for this unique car.
We are told that this example has been completely restored and rebuilt, and that everything is in perfect running order. The engine compartment presents itself well, with no defects to be noted and appears to be in conformity with the original configuration.
This means that this beautiful shooting brake offers respectable performance and is perfectly capable of coping with modern traffic!
