The Appeal
Trust Alfa. Eight years into production of its crisp 105 coupe it created arguably the prettiest version - although we appreciate some will debate that - the 2000 GTV. Fronted by purposeful quad headlights, fitted with a luxury interior and powered by a 2L version of that classic twin cam, it was a near-perfect blend of sporting and GT proclivities.
The sheer usability of these cars, plus their natural aesthetic and driving rewards, put good late model cars in high demand. Some have been restored in a way that dials out character, but not this car. It has recently been subject to a sympathetic restoration that has preserved what didn’t need restored but lightly updated what did. The work has been comprehensive, the bill from specialist Classic Alfa for parts totalling some £5,000.
It was a good base for work because it is a South African car, its condition preserved by that country’s forgiving climate. Beyond the recent investment and condition it is a well specified car, finished in iconic Alfa Romeo Ross 501 with those lovely period Momo alloys and a well kept interior.
Ready for UK registration and enjoyment, this is a very good example of one of the 70s most delectable sports cars.
