THE APPEAL
In the busy 21st century, the endearing Volkswagen bus continues to offer the perfect combination of classic motoring and idilic camping for thousands of devotees around the world.
Meet ‘Vanny’! - an original RHD U.K. registered camper. Although not specifically noted as such, ‘Vanny’ has the Westfalia hallmarks such as the ‘pop-top’, roof luggage rack and side louvre windows along with classic Westfalia-style interior fitments.
The attractive body was extensively restored and the mechanicals overhauled and upgraded over a period of time between 2005 and 2009 at a total cost of around £14,000. Although not quite mint now, ‘Vanny’ has clearly been loved and is, nonetheless, a very sound and neatly kitted-out camper with a lovely interior and desirable 2-litre engine.
