The Appeal

The ultimate tool for adventure. Simple, fun, endlessly cool. Could it be anything other than a classic Volkswagen van? These incredibly versatile automotive icons have seen untold popularity throughout the years and proudly command cult classic status to this day.

A massive redesign of its split screen forebear, the second generation T2, affectionately known as the “bay window”, most recognisable in its campervan form was greatly improved from a driveability point of view whilst still retaining the charming, fun style that made the original so popular.

The Mechanics

Highly revered rear mounted flat four air cooled engine nestled into the rear hatch
The vendor informs us that the van is in good overall mechanical order, and runs and drives well
Invoices show a replacement clutch kit fitted to the van in 2019
We are also advised by the vendor that the van has had a replacement engine fitted which to their knowledge was circa 40 thousand miles ago
Backed by a wealth of enthusiast support and parts supply
A set of upgraded gas struts for the replacement pop top roof will accompany the van on sale
After a recent service report, the vendor advises that the follow components would require replacement:
- CV boot
- Steering Arm
- Rear Shocks
