Highlights
- ‘Big Beetle’ with more power and improved suspension
- Original and practical four-seater starter classic
- Ideal running project to use and improve
- Looks smart with extra driving lights and alloys
The Appeal
Volkswagen’s continuous development of the ‘Beetle’ had, by 1973, produced a car that retained the classic shape but incorporated a host of modern improvements. It was nicknamed the ‘Big Beetle’ and the 1303S version featured a pokey 1600cc engine, bigger boot and better handling thanks to updated suspension.
These models are easily identified by their wraparound windscreens and ‘elephant ears’ rear lights.
This is one of those desirable 1303S models and comes to us in original and usable condition. It could be approached as a running project or simply used and enjoyed, just as the Beetle was always intended.
