1973 Triumph Hurricane X75

Highlights

  • Extremely rare
  • Very original
  • Low miles

The Appeal

This stunning Triumph Hurricane X75 was a very limited production model, designed by Craig Vetter and was to be one of the earliest examples of a factory custom motorcycle.

Craig Vetter was instrumental in pioneering fairing and aerodynamic technology for motorcycles, and worked his magic on the rather dull triumph rocket 3 to produce this machine.

Only 1,152 have been produced worldwide, and fewer than 40 of these were sold in the UK and as such it is an extremely rare sight anywhere let alone the UK.

This fine example is in a lovely original condition.

The History and Paperwork

  • NOVA import documentation present
  • Cleared and ready for fresh V5 registration
  • Original owners handbook
This bike has a lovely amount of documentation present.

It was imported in late 2019 and has been in storage since. The engine turns freely but the bike has not been started since then according to the vendor.

It has some USA/DMV export documents along with the British import documents including the import clearance letter from NOVA stating the bike is ready to be registered for a V5.

As such there is no V5 and registration number present but it is fully prepared for a fresh registration.

Also present is the original owners handbook and replacement parts list booklet which is very nice to find!

The Condition

  • Stunning original condition
  • Very light patina
  • Very well looked after
This wonderfully rare triumph is presented in its original factory specification and trim.

It appears very original and unmolested, and it has begun to develop a very light patina due to it being a 49 year old machine, but for its age it is in exceptional condition overall.

Starting with the saddle, the leather is in overall good condition and is original, there is one small nick on the bottom right edge against the fairing and the leather could benefit from a good conditioning and detailing.

The paintwork on the fairing and tank is overall in good condition, however a would certainly benefit from a polish and there is some chips in the forward edge of the tank and light blemishes.

The gauges and lights are clear and clean, and the brightwork has a nice shine to it.

Overall a really nice, authentic original bike, which only needs a nice detail and a small amount of TLC to bring it to show condition if desired.

The Mechanics

  • Fantastic 750cc triple engine
  • Clearly well maintained
  • Low milage
Mechanically complete, everything present and appears very well looked after.

The fantastic triumph triple 750cc engine is excellent, and features the very striking triple exhaust, and a bank of three Amal concentric carburettors for maximum reliability and great power delivery.

The front vented brake setup really looks the part and appears in excellent shape.

The fork stanchions appear to be free of any bad marks or gouges in the chrome. Overall, in excellent shape mechanically.

Summary

This is a very sought-after, collectable machine.

A extraordinarily rare opportunity to own a major part of not just Triumph and BSA history but motorcycle history in general, produced by a real pioneer of fairing technology.

Stunning original condition, and sure to turn heads wherever you go, this machine is not to be missed.
