The Appeal
Suzuki were really on a roll in the Seventies and their GT line-up was to prove a big hit with buyers around the world and many people can remember owning one of these classics in their youth. The GT 250 was launched in Japan in 1971, UK buyers had to wait two whole years to get their mitts on an ‘official’ UK T250 and it was an updated version of their T250, with model becoming one of Suzuki’s best selling bikes of the Seventies. The ‘G’ prefix denoting the Ram Air cylinder head design and model featured an air-cooled 247cc twin-cylinder two-stroke (with a separate oil tank) that developed a respectable 31hp at 7,000rpm and was said to be good for a respectable 90mph top speed!
This model is from the first year of UK GT250 sales and is finished in the desirable red and white colour combination (the green and white was the only other UK option and wasn’t the most pleasant of colourways). It’s been restored by the current owner who took pains to retain the bikes original patina.

Summary
This is one of those iconic bikes of your youth and we all knew someone who owned one when we were growing up. Aping the design of the more powerful bikes thanks to its Ram Air cooling fins, the GT250 is a great looking bike and this one is a proper UK-registered matching numbers example in the best colour.
