- Reportedly running very well and driving exactly as it should
The Appeal
As the 1960s drew to a close, Porsche was seeking a replacement for their 912 and as it happened Volkswagen were also looking to phase out the Karman Ghia. It made sense therefore that the two bastions of air-cooled technology should collaborate. Thus, the 914 was born.
Praised for its fine handling, aided by its amidship engine placement and low mass, the 914 continues to be a popular classic amongst Stuttgart and Wolfsburg enthusiasts alike.
We’re delighted to offer this beautifully preserved 2.0-litre example, dating from 1973. Having spent much of its life in sunny Santa Monica, California, it’s in very good condition for its age, with no obvious signs of corrosion. Upon acquiring the 914, the current owner carried out a comprehensive mechanical refresh, so it’s now running very well and is ready to be enjoyed by its next keeper.
