The Appeal
Ford had the Capri, Opel had the Manta, both European coupes influenced by transatlantic concepts. The original Manta A took its name and styling cue from General Motors' Manta Ray concept, which also influenced the C3 Corvette.
That's where the similarities end, because the Manta A has been designed as a light, agile sports car, perfect for Europe's winding roads. Of the choice of engines available, the 1.2-litre engine was the most popular option for many buyers. This 1973 1200 S is a timely reminder of the beauty and elegance of these cars.
Now very rare, it is in beautiful, factory standard, unmodified condition, including such delightful features as the Rostyle wheels - complete with their chrome embellishers - and the vinyl sports seats. It is in good used condition, as certified by a recently renewed MOT.
