The Appeal

SR has become a common badge for Vauxhall and Opel’s sporting models, but it all started here, with the Ascona A Sport Rallye. It was inspired by the Ascona that Walter Rohl piloted to a European Rally Championship win in 1974 and is just as entertaining and rewarding to drive as that sounds.

Unmodified and original survivors like this one are rare, which is why the Portuguese Club of Ancient Autos (CPAA) has recognised its originality and condition by homologating it. It retains its raft of SR features including the gearbox, LSD and uprated interior.

This delightful 940kg saloon car comes to market with the reassurance of a technical inspection valid to August 2024 and recent service plus maintenance to brakes and carburettors.
