  • All new interior

The Appeal

Likely if you’re looking for a mini, you’ll not need much convincing about their quirky  appeal and in this case how rare this model is.

From the Black Tulip paint, the 10’’ Rostyle wheels shod in period correct Dunlop SP Aquajet tyres and the perky A series 1275 engine, this example is just fabulous from nose to tail and pleases any  onlooker.
Well restored and mechanically overhauled, the car has barely seen 1000 miles since completion and put simply, is ready to be loved and enjoyed.

The History and Paperwork

  • V5 showing 1 previous keeper
  • Magazine article about the car and rebuild
  • Handbooks
  • Heritage certificate
Purchased in 2016, the vendor put the Mini through an extensive restoration process not leaving anything to chance taking the car right back to basics and putting in two years of graft to get the charming little motor to where it is today.

The car caught the attention of minicooper.org and subsequently an article followed the process of the rebuild making a good read and backing up the process.

The Interior

  • All new interior trim
  • Original dials and dashboard
  • Quality fittings
Fully overhauled and executed to a superb level, the interior is a delight with period correct materials used and items retained to keep the restoration sympathetic and keeping some original features.

The black vinyl seats have a pleasing design and look like they belong there from new along with the black carpets and mats, all well fitted and beautifully matching.
The dashboard is original retaining the original gauges, vents and switchgear all present with nice patina but nothing broken.
In the magazine article the car was presented with a cream interior which has since been changed as the vendor decided the black was better suited to the car and we think it looks superb too.
Virtually everything had been replaced regards the soft furnishings, even the door cards and sun visors leaving nothing to attend to for the new owner.

In the boot, the spare wheel is matching with the correct tyre and tool kit complete. The paintwork and carpets in the boot are all fresh too along with the fuel tank.

The Exterior

  • Black Tulip paint
  • Rostyle wheels
  • Good chrome
This mini got plenty of looks in the time we spent with it and its defiantly is a little head turner, sporting those lovely 10 inch wheels and all weather tyres it looks purposeful and very tidy.

The paintwork is good and had been polish up well with just a handful of isolated blemishes in some of the tight areas.

All the chrome work has been polished up well and it is all properly fitted, the rectangular front grille being the star of the show along with that little red GT badge make for a very different appearance from the front compared to other Mini’s.
Many of the panels were replaced upon restoration including the front wings (heritage), A panels, front & rear panels and door skins, all being done well and  properly fitted.
The exterior ultimately was difficult to fault and evidently a lot of care and attention has been given it through its restoration.

The Mechanics

  • Overhauled engine and transmission
  • Underside properly repaired & protected
  • Full Mainflow system including the exhaust manifold
  • Very clean & tidy under bonnet
The vendor was particularly careful and attentive to the mechanical side of this car and it really shows with virtually every part on the suspension and drivetrain being refreshed or renewed.

As can be seen in the magazine review, a wheel-off image shows all the suspension and braking system all renewed and a look under the bonnet tells a similar story.

With engine bearings replaced, a rebore and reground crank just to name a few things, the engine is essentially new and has likely not even seen 1000 miles since the work was carried out.
Under the bonnet everything very clean, nicely painted but unmodified in keeping with the rest of the car, it has all been done well and definitely would not look out of place as any classic car show.

The car started and ran perfectly with a pleasing exhaust note and wonderful road presence.

Summary

Mini 1275 GT’s do not come around very often, especially with the care and attention this one has seen.

Nothing has been left to chance with every aspect of this gorgeous little motor having the needed attention it required upon restoration.

The overall finish is hard to fault and mechanically from what we saw the car is ready for the road and years of use and enjoyment.
