The Appeal
Dropping its new V12 engine into the E-Type’s revised body gave the car a new lease of life and created the GT it was arguably always meant to be. These care are popular today because their longer chassis, bigger doors and taller roofline makes them much easier to use than earlier cars.
This car was amongst the first receipts of that smooth engine. It is car number 138 of the run of LHD V12s, built in 1971 and first despatched to the USA. It subsequently spent time in the warm climes of Bahrain before arriving back in the UK where it was acquired by the seller some years ago.
Together with a business partner, he treated this car to a thorough 2.5 year restoration that covered every aspect of the car from bodywork to a full engine rebuild. It was finished to a very high standard - you can check that in the photos - and has covered just 60 miles since completion three years ago.
The work is fully documented and we’ve detailed it below. It is a long but very reassuring read. The car is close to ‘brand new’ and ready for registration, whether here in the UK or across the water in Europe depending on the buyer’s requirements.
Restoration-fresh cars were someone has expended all the effort do not not come along often. One not to miss.
