The Attractions

If you have large sums of money and love cars, you can have almost anything you want. And that is exactly what happened in 1968, when two wealthy American friends decided to create the world's fastest shooting brake.

They entrusted the realisation of their project to the Italian company Intermeccanica and the result was the Murena 429 GT, a sleek and streamlined sports car that offered space for four people and their luggage or pets. Of course, luggage and pets had to be well secured, as the long bonnet housed a 7-litre Ford V8 engine capable of producing 370 hp. The Murena was capable of reaching 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and covered the quarter mile in 15.5 seconds.

Although it was originally planned to build only two examples for the two designer friends, ten were eventually produced, and the remaining eight were sold for the equivalent of $118,000 in 1969 to celebrities such as Elvis Presley and Dean Martin. Today they are extraordinarily rare cars, jealously guarded in prestigious private collections.

All this makes this extraordinary specimen particularly interesting. It is a replica of the original Murena 429 GT, built in the United States respecting the characteristics of the original cars. It has recently arrived in Italy, where it has been completely repainted in a stunning Salchi/Green Gem shade and the interior has been reupholstered in beige leather.

The seller has informed us that the car's mileage is very low, having covered only 33,554 since new, and that it is in excellent condition.

This is one of the rare occasions when the phrase 'you'll never see another one like it' is truly appropriate. It is a replica made with great care and in excellent condition. We are confident that it will always be the centre of attention, as well as offering a unique and exciting driving experience.

The seller told us:
"It's like driving a fun stunt plane, thanks to the power of the engine and the unique sound offered by the special exhaust, which enhances the melody of the 7-litre V8 with 370 hp. It is a truly extraordinary car and no other is like it."
