The Appeal
Launched in 1969 as a replacement for the well-regarded yet now rather old CA, the Bedford CF quickly became one of Britain’s favourite full-size vans. It proved well-suited to a wide range of commercial applications, of which this 1973 example is surely the most fun.
This Bedford CF1 boasts fibreglass ice cream van bodywork by Morrison. The vendor has owned the Bedford for around nine years, using it at numerous events to sell ice cream. We’re sure you’ll agree it boasts a charming aesthetic that’s sure to make you stand head and shoulders above your competition at any event.
Looks aside, the van is exceedingly well equipped, with a very large freezer which keeps its contents frozen for 6-7 hours when fully charged. The vendor comments that it has been judiciously maintained, serviced, and resprayed and comes with a fantastic awning. The interior has been recently refitted with new cupboards, flooring and fibreglass, while the underside has received new springs and treatment applied to the chassis. Mechanically, all is in fine fettle thanks to a comprehensive recent engine overhaul which entailed some pretty major work including a crankshaft re-grind and new main bearings.
Whether you are looking to start a food/catering business or expand an existing one, this charming classic Bedford would be a superb addition to your fleet. It's perfect for serving up delicious treats on a hot summer day or as a fun addition to any event.
