This Spider has just come into the UK from South Africa and is an incredibly solid example of this beautiful roadster. Luckily for you, the Vendor specialises in the importation of cars from South Africa and will be happy to help you get this wonderful Spider registered for use on the UK roads.

The Interior
- Well-trimmed seats
- Lovely wooden steering wheel
- Beautiful place to sit
What a sense of occasion this interior is, filled with Italian flair it could be one of the best classic car interiors you could find. Filled with leather and analogue Jaeger dials there is nothing quite like it.
If we start by looking at the seats, we can see that they are presented in amazing condition, there is a slight mark on the passenger side seat base but apart from that they are ready for you to sit in. To match the black pleated seats the door cards are also finished in the same material with the same sort of pattern, these too are in great condition.
Looking at the rest of the pocket sized interior we can see that it has been well looked after during its life, the carpets are in very good condition with the rest of the black plastic trim looking just as good. If you have looked at imported cars from hot climates you may know of the dreaded cracked dash, but if you look at the dash fitted to this Spider you can see that it has no cracks to it at all.
The interior is further enhanced with the soft top roof section folded back behind the rear seat section. With the top down the cabin is filled with light and the experience of driving this car takes on a new feeling.
With only a few marks here and there on the inside of this wonderful classic Spider, you will be able to spend countless happy hours behind the glorious wooden steering wheel.
The Exterior
- Striking red paint
- Soft-top is in great condition
- The alloys are well presented
- Headlight covers available if required
The exterior of this Italian classic is absolutely amazing, its beautiful lines are further enhanced by the striking red paint. This exterior is made even better with the addition of the lovely wheels that have little to no curb rash whatsoever.
If this was a Spider that had spent its time in the UK or Europe, we would be pointing out countless areas of corrosion, but thanks to the sunny climate of South Africa this Alfa has been preserved well. The inner wheel arches are as solid as the day they left the factory, this is also true for the boot area. You might find it hard to find a more solid RHD example.
Because there is very little to no rust the exterior paintwork is in very good condition. In the sun the deep red looks amazing, it is made even better with the small chrome accents around the headlights, mirrors, and wipers.
As we have mentioned the 5 spoke alloy wheels are presented in very good condition indeed, they are then shrouded by 4 matching Dunlop tyres.
Due to the convertible roof, you effectively get two cars for your money. With the roof up you have an aerodynamic and sleek ‘70s coupe, but with the roof stowed neatly under the included tonneau cover you have a small and beautiful roadster. What’s not to love about that?
The Mechanics
- Fitted with the largest 2.0l engine
- Five-speed manual
- Raring to go!
Back in 1973, you could get the Spider with 4 engine choices that ranged from the base model 1.3l all the way up to the now sort after 2.0l twin cam. Luckily this Spider is fitted with the highest capacity 2.0l twin cam engine, if you know your classic Alfas you will know that is a wonderful engine.
Although this car has just landed after a long sea voyage from South Africa it started straight up and was maneuvered into position without complaint. It was then driven to the garage after the photos were taken to carry out a service and other small works to make sure the car is spot on when you come to pick it up.
The combination of a peppy 2.0l and five-speed manual gearbox makes for a wonderfully engaging drive. With the top down you can experience all of the intoxicating noise from the exhaust. There is no doubt that you will be able to have some of the best drives of your life in this little Italian sports car.
Summary
Well, who wouldn’t want a red Italian classic roadster in their stable, and with this example being so solid it is almost a no-brainer. The beautiful lines and sporty drivetrain make for a classic you can enjoy every day.
Once you complete the simple paperwork to get it registered in the UK you will have an excellent classic, that’s for sure.
