The Appeal
One of the best looking coupés ever to grace our roads, the Giulia 105 series was designed by the celebrated Giogetto Giugiaro and offered an exhilarating drive from the peppy all-alloy twin-cam engines. Initially known as the Sprint GT, following models included the GT Veloce and 1750 GTV.
Introduced in June 1971, the 2000 GTV featured a different front grille and revised interior amongst other minor changes, but still retained the legendary Alfa twin-cam, now producing a respectable 131 bhp.
Looking resplendent in the correct Rosso paintwork, this particular GTV was recently imported from South Africa where it was restored by the previous owner. Overall, the car is in great condition and features a retrimmed interior and period Memo Vega alloy wheels.
On the road the agile nature of the Alfa is a delight. The car embodies the pure analogue driving experience, precise steering, light gear changes and super handling, enhanced by that classic unmistakable Alfa sound track.

On the day of the photoshoot we were unable to open the boot lid, but this small issue should be rectified before purchase.
Externally, the classic Alfa Rosso paintwork gleams in the sunshine. Overall the body is nice and straight although the door shut lines aren’t perfect.
The brightwork, lights and bumpers are in good condition and numerous new trim pieces, expensive door handles and badges have been fitted.
The car sits on a set of fantastic period Momo Vega alloy wheels with virtually new Dunlop SP-Sport S60 tyres, and underneath, the car appears structurally solid and is well undersealed.
The Mechanics
- Extremely presentable engine bay
- 1,962 cc twin-cam with idle oil pressure of around 50 psi
- Dellorto twin-barrel 40 carburettors
- 5-speed gearbox
- New electronic ignition system
- Refurbished coil spring suspension
- New disc brakes all round
- Powerflow exhaust system
Lifting the bonnet we happily discover a well maintained show standard engine compartment. The lively 2.0-litre engine offers great low-down torque and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
We understand that during the restoration the gearbox was overhauled with a new second gear synchro’ and a new clutch, brake discs and pads installed. Also a full suspension refurbishment was undertaken along with the fitment of a Powerflow exhaust system.
We are also told that the engine was in perfect working order and just the carburettors were rebuilt and a desirable electronic ignition was fitted.
During the photoshoot, this lovely Alfa started easily, sounded great and felt precise at manoeuvring speeds.
