1972 Volkswagen T2 Baywindow Danbury Camper

  • Low   owner example
  • Danbury conversion

The Appeal

The Volkswagen Type 2 Combi or Camper Van is arguably one of the most iconic vehicles ever. Their shape and presence are known globally. The second generation (T2) would offer slightly larger engine options amongst other styling tweaks such as moving to the Bay-window front windscreen. A convenient improvement over the T1 was the introduction of 12-volt electronic system, giving for better functionality with accessories, an all-important point for campers.

While offering better refinement over its predecessor, parts are also easier to find and at times more affordable than for the T1. For the European market, T2's were produced in Hannover, (then) West Germany from 1967 until 1979, totalling 2.14 million examples, an impressive figure for a 12-year production run!
