The Appeal

Regularly referred to in the USA as the “Super Beetle”, the 1302 model had some desirable features of older Beetles combined with upgraded suspension and the more powerful 1600cc engine. Just 460 were built in cabriolet form before the 1303 model was introduced with the curved windscreen. The 1302 model featured the flat glass windscreen of previous versions, and the newly introduced MacPherson strut and spring front suspension that replaced the earlier torsion bar system. It also boasted a larger front luggage area.

Imported from the USA in 2021 this attractive example is fresh from a two year restoration completed in April of this year. After being stripped down to its individual parts the body was carefully prepared and completely repainted before the Beetle was meticulously reassembled with dozens of new parts. The interior is most impressive with the correct dash, black high back seats and beige carpets piped in red to match the exterior. The black soft top features a glass rear window, and fully repainted and refitted frame. With all the side windows raised the hood fits snugly with no gaps. On the road the 1600cc engine pulls well, and the Beetle rides nicely with no rattles.

Freshly restored by a knowledgeable enthusiast it is particularly nice example of a desirable model that is ready to be enjoyed.
