The Attractions

The Stag was a truly unique car. True, there were other attractive convertibles on the market and also a good number of sports cars with powerful V8 engines.
But there certainly weren't many V8 convertibles, especially not sleek European sports cars like the Triumph Stag. To understand how ambitious this project was, one only has to think that Triumph even made its V8 engine from scratch! The Stags were not without their problems, but a well-tuned example like this MkI is sure to give great satisfaction.
Officially imported by Italian distributor Tarchini of Milan in 1971, it retains its original black plates and has been restored with great care. With only 72,000 km on the odometer and only one owner until 2007, this Stag has been carefully maintained and driven infrequently, mainly to take part in historic events. The painstaking restoration work included a complete rebuild of the engine and all systems.
The seller told us:
"After being restored, it was rarely driven only to participate in historical events. It has always run properly, offering remarkable power and without any creaking of the chassis, body or suspension. The engine temperature is perfect in all conditions (even in the scorching Italian summer!)."
It is rare to find a Stag in Italy, which makes this example an extraordinary opportunity for British classic enthusiasts.
