The Appeal
Triumph’s Spitfire remained in production for so long because there really was nothing quite like it. Small, nimble, great value and distinctively styled, the Spit was many enthusiast drivers’ introduction to the entertaining world of open-top, two-seater motoring.
Here is a great opportunity to discover - or rediscover - all that. This MkIV, with its updated ‘kamm tail’ styling, was restored by specialist Bridge Classics - who then offered it as a competition prize - and refinished in classic racing red with a black vinyl interior. Sparingly used since, it remains in very good order, right down to the factory correct wheels and their bright chrome embellishers.
The current keeper acquired the car a couple of years ago from the competition winner and has spared no expense on it. There has been a partial engine rebuild to return the peppy 1.3L Standard engine to full health plus other work as required across the mechanicals. He has also treated the car to an £800 high-end DAB Bluetooth sound system and speakers and a £300 Moto Lita steering wheel. Both great touches that finish of this attractive car.
Arriving with us in very good mechanical order and presenting as a very pretty and well-kept car, this car will certainly turn heads wherever it goes once it emerges from winter storage.
