1972 Jaguar E-Type V12 Coupé 2+2

Highlights

  • Original and timeless colour combination: British Racing Green on matching green interior
  • Registered with the Automotoclub Storico Italiano (ASI)
  • Four-speed manual gearbox

 The highlights

The E-Type was the masterpiece of Jaguar founder William Lyons; the culmination of years of secret development and a car that would become a symbol of 1960s British style. With the advent of the third series, the 1971 E-Type got a V12 engine and was offered as a 2+2 coupé, in line with a growing demand for grand tourers suitable for long journeys rather than the nimble sports cars of the early 1960s.
Here we have one such example, particularly attractive in British Racing Green colouring, with a matching interior. Jaguar only produced 2,116 right-hand drive Series III coupés, and this example has the added value of standard air conditioning and a manual gearbox! According to the seller, it is extremely original in every respect, including some of the paintwork, so for those looking for an original and intact Series III, this is the ideal example.

  • Registered with the Italian Automotoclub Storico Italiano
  • Currently without recent periodic inspection
  • 99,400 kilometres indicated on odometer

Conditions

  • Versatile 2+2 Coupé variant
  • British Racing Green with matching green interior
  • Bodywork and paintwork in excellent condition for its age, with no major imperfections or excessive wear and tear
  • Well-preserved original interior with a lovely patina
  • Original Jaguar wheels
  • Impeccable chrome plating
It is said that the great Enzo Ferrari admired the E-Type with great respect and whether this is true or not, it is indisputably a work of automotive art of great beauty. This Series III is beautifully presented in British Racing Green, with bright, glossy paint on all surfaces. The bodywork is in splendid condition, with no signs of corrosion or damage. All the trim appears to be in good condition and the chrome is free of any significant signs of ageing.
We are told that the interior is original and well-preserved, with a charming patina but no noticeable wear, and that the cockpit electrical system works well, as does all the instrumentation.

The mechanics

  • 5,343 cc V12 engine
  • 4-speed manual transmission
  • Well-presented engine compartment
  • All mechanical, electrical and braking systems have been checked by the seller and function correctly
In the V12 version, the E-Type was transformed from sports car to Grand Tourer, although this example retains its spirited temperament thanks to the four-speed manual transmission. The seller informs us that it works properly and drives very well, with excellent performance. No faults have been reported, so this Jaguar looks ready to be driven.
