The Appeal
International Harvester’s D-Series trucks gave buyers a robust alternative to the more common Detroit options. These were tough, heavy trucks equipped with mammoth V8s.
Aggressive competition and a fuel crisis suppressed sales, which makes survivors like this one particularly rare. It has spent most of its life in the cossetting dry climes of South Africa. It was restored there recently to a high standard, neatly finished in metallic blue with smart wheels. It was originally a flatbed but is now equipped with wooden railings, finished to a good standard. Inside is a smart interior with quilted seats.
Beneath the hood lies International’s punchy SV392 6.6L petrol V8, mated to a 4spd manual box. It is ready to be used and enjoyed.
